About the area |
Rice farming is an important element of the economy in this area. People here either farm rice, work at the rice mill or work at some type of grain or fertilizer industry. The Annual Arkansas Rice festival is held in Weiner every October to celebrate the heritage of rice farming and the harvesting of this crop in Arkansas. The featured events are the Old Time Threshing demonstration, Truck and Tractor pull, fishing rodeo, street dance, car and art shows and the parade. There is also a rice cook-off and photo contest in addition to all the food and craft vendors. |
