About the area |
The first permanent settlers came to this area, where Osage and Cherokees Indians lived, around 1828. The first state legislature designated Fayettville as the county seat around 1836. It is the home of the main campus of the University of Arkansas which has colleges in this disciplines and a graduate school and law school. The city has been home to Senator J. William Fulbright, President Bill Clinton and Secretary of State and Senator Hillary Clinton. The first home of Bill and Hillary Clinton, and where they were married is now the Clinton House museum. Here you can view memorabilia of President Clinton's early political career when he was preparing his campaigns for U.S. House of Representatives and state attorney general. |
