About the area |
Judsonia is located on the lower Little Red River. Many immigrants from the North settled here after the Civil War and the growing importance of strawberries were significant in the growth of the city's economy. The Judsonia city parks are W.E. Orr park, Judsonia Ball field and Friendly Acres park. Friendly Acres park is equipped with playground equipment, a walking trail, a fish pond and pavilions. The Judsonia Community center was constructed by the Works Proress Administration during the Great Depression. The Buildingâs entrances, fences, light poles, and benches are built of native rock and capped with concrete and the entire block, where it is located, is listed as a Historic District on the National Register of Historic Places.
