About the area |
In the beginning the railroads and a nearby lumber mill were the driving forces in the economy of the city, providing employment for many of its residents. One of the attractions in Kensett is a Zonkey. This striped-legged crossbreed between a a zebra and a donkey can usually be found on a lot at the corner of Searcy and Fourth Street across the street from its owners. Kensett is the hometown of baseball player Bill Dickey a catcher for the New York Yankees and a member of the baseball Hall of Fame. It is also the hometown of Wilbur Mills, longtime member of the United States House of Representatives. |
