About the area

Independence is a very popular camp ground for the Inyo forest reserve. It is completely covered with beautiful oak trees and makes it an ideal campsite. You usually find a lot of campers and RVâ€™s parked here. John Muir Wilderness is a huge part of the forest reserve encompassing million acres or more. In proximity are the Mammoth Mountains which is most popular for skiing, however it is as inviting in any other season. A specialty of the region is the Bristlecone Pine forest and the whole area is filled with these unique trees which has survived a few thousands of years.
Sequoia National Park is to the west. Can you guess what kind of trees that park is known for? Dude, they're huge!
