Lake City is a city of about 11000 people; double the population it was 25 years ago. It was founded in 1859. In the early 1900's it was the junction for four southern railroads. In and about the area are 5 major lakes. Lake De Soto features several campgrounds. The Lake Isabella area is known for its Historic Residential district which is in the US Register of Historic Places. Lake Hamburg and Harper Lake are great fishing sites and Alligator Lake is a venue for both fishing and hunting. The area has exotic wildlfe, white water and crystal clear springs making it a great tourist attraction served by several campgrounds.
