About the area
At one time the city was poulated by the Spanish who founded the city in 1565. The end of the French and Indian wars saw the British take over rule of St. Augustine a city which they couldn't take by force because of the strong fort which existed there. This fort, the Castillo de Marcos, exists to this day and visitors to it can imagine the presence of Spanish troops. A treaty later turned the Spanish colonies, including St. Augustine, over to the United States. St. Augustine is home to Flagler College a four year Liberal Arts college.
Judges
John Alexander head the Circuit Court; Christensen and Tinlin are the County Court judges.
