Tipton District Court

Tipton District Court is also known as the district court of Cedar county and is located in the Seventh judicial district of Iowa. IS 80 runs through the Southern part of Cedar county and US 30 through the Northern part. Other roads such as US 6 and SR 38 while SR 130 runs into Tipton from the Eastern side of the city.

Cedar county was stitched together from sections of Dubuque county in the Winter of 1837. Tipton is one of 8 communities in this county. Herbert Hoover, former US president, was born in the West Branch community. There are six county parks and seven wildlife areas throughout the county. The city of Tipton was founded around 1840 and was once known as the "agricultural and livestock center of the world". The Carnegie Library, circa 1903, and the large number of restored homes from the Victorian era is testament to the splendor of this city in its heyday. Stop in at the library to view their collection of original Grant Wood charcoal and oil works as well as works of other artists. Two interesting and historically steeped places to visit are the Cedar County Historical Society museum with its thousands of historical artifacts, photos, and documents gathered from all over the county and the the Old Cedar County jail consisting of the jail and the sheriff's house which was in use until around 2001.
