Garner District Court is the same as the Hancock district court. It is in the Second judicial of Iowa. US 69 is the only major road in Hancock county. |
| About the area |
Garner was laid out in the Summer of 1870 as the the Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Paul railroad started service to the city. The Duesenberg brothers were born in Lippe, Germany but brought to this country and raised on a farm near Rockford. They were into building and racing bicycles. Their mounting of a combustion engine of their own design on a bicycle was the beginning of the Duesenberg automobile. They had shops in Garner and Rockford. To pay homage to the brothers and their auto, the city holds an annual Duesy Days celebration in July. This event leads off with a parade and has a talent contest and craft and food vendors. The city has a nice, new outdoor swimming complex. |
