Mount Pleasant District Court

Mount Pleasant District Court serves as the district court of Henry county and is located in the Eighth judicial district of Iowa. There are a bunch of good roads running through Henry county such as US 34, US 218, SR 27 and SR 163.

Even before the establishment of Henry county; efforts were put foward to build a courthouse in the center of the public square of Mount Pleasant. It was not completed until around 1839 but was only the first of three courthouses; until it was demolished around 1872 to make way for a new building. The city provides a good group of parks, an aquatic center and walking trails to meet the needs of the residents. Five of the parks have shelter houses and one is a Disc Golf course while another is the place where the Old Threshers reunion and Henry County fair are held. The Theater museum in this city has an unusual collection of memorabilia from early American popular entertainment especially of the troupes of performers who criss-crossed rural America from the 1850's to the 1950's. The displays include stage drops, quaint artifacts, scripts and music scores. There are also photographs, show heralds, playbills, scrapbooks, newspapers, costumes and scenery as well as items from showboats and minstrel shows. Drop in to the museum when the traveling tent shows present a play on its stage in July and August.
