Sioux City District Court

Sioux City District Court is the district court of Woodbury county in the Third judicial district of Iowa. Oh the places in Woodbury county you will go when you travel on IS 29, IS 129, US 20, US 75, US 75 Business, SR 31, SR 140 and SR 141.

Much remains of days gone by in Sioux City. A log cabin, once located on the Theophile Bruguier farm. and considered to be the oldest structure in Sioux City has been rebuilt in Riverside Park as a clubhouse for the Girls of '68 Junior Pioneers. The Sioux City Municipal Band gives Summer concerts at the band shell, in Grandview park, built in the 1930's by the Civil Works Administration. The building which opened as Central High School in the 1920's and called the Castle on the Hill due to its resemblance to a castle is no longer used as a school but is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and has been converted to apartments. The The Peirce Mansion, built shortly before the beginning of the 20th century is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It has been restored to its period elegance and is open for tours. The construction of the mansion is of South Dakota quartzite and it has twenty-one rooms with elegantly carved woodwork, ornate paneling, large ballroom and a grand staircase.
