About the area

Pinckneyville in Perry County is the government center of this land of more than 445 square miles of extension with a very interesting and diverse topography which is very well irrigated and keeps many natural treasure such as the Du Quoin State Fairgrounds and Pyramid State Recreation Area. It was established back in the 1820s due the generosity of Jackson and Randolph Counties when several Irish, Polish, Italian, and German colonies lived in this territory; and neighbor of Jefferson, Jackson, Washington, Randolph, and Franklin Counties.
