Mother of the charming community of Sarahsville town and as one of the smallest counties of Illinois State, this county was named after Nathaniel Pope (former Territorial Secretary of State) and it is home today of more than 4400 people. Established back in the 1810s, this territory has a total area of 375 square miles of extension, mostly operated from Golconda City; which is the county seat of this land with only 725 residents and homeland of the "Trail of Tears" to Oklahoma. Saline, Massac, Hardin, Livingston (KY), Johnson, and Williamson Counties constitute the frontiers of this county of two cities, and six communities. |
