This tiny county represents the smallest son of Illinois with only 170 square miles of territory and just 6080 residents. In the Ottawa–Streator micro area rises with elegance this land named after Gen. Israel Putnam sharing frontiers with Bureau County on its northern and western borders; LaSalle County as its eastern neighbor, and finally Marshall County as its southern brother. With a population mostly White Non Hispanic and a median household income of almost $45500, this community has strong German and Italian influences coming from the first settlers who arrived to this territory back in the late 18th century and the early 19th century.
