About the area

Located along the Mississinewa (laughing waters) River, the Mississinewa 1812 Festival features the reenactment of the battle fought here with the Miami Indians. The last lynching of blacks in the US occurred here in 1930. Marion General Hospital was honored by being named a Magnet Hospital.
