If you don't mind riding to the Southernmost part of Bennington on Nelson street you can reach SR 18 which will take you to points East and West. |
| About the area |
One of the town's founders, who opened the first business house here and was the first Postmaster, built his residence in the 1870's which was named "Our Old House" by the present owners. In the late 1870's the town was laid out on portions of the farms owned by two of the settlers to the area. Around 1878, the Solomon Valley Railroad, a branch of the Kansas Pacific Railroad, came to town. If you are visiting be sure to take a stroll through the town to view some of the interesting homes and buildings that are part of Bennington's heritage or pay a visit to Ottawa State Lake just north of town for a relaxing afternoon.
