| About the area |
Grand Marais is located on the North Shore of Lake Superior making this harbor village a great place to view the lake. In addition to Superior there are many other lakes in the area in which fishermen can angle for fish not found anywhere. Here the experienced angler will be able to land lake trout and Coho and Chinook salmon. Original art is seen everywhere in this town; whether on signs, door panels on old garages and even on the sides of buildings. In February the annual Winter Tracks Family Festival is held up the Gunflint Trail. At the festival you can enjoy snowmobiling, XC skiing, ice fishing, sledding, broomball, dinner and dance, an outdoor art event and even a Mongolian firepot dinner.
