The Western Dakota County court is the Western Service Center branch of the Dakota County District court. County Road 42 (150th St. W.) and State Road 77 (Cedar Ave.) meet in the center of Apple Valley. IS 35 runs to the West of town and IS 35E runs along the Northwest border of the town.

The Minnesota zoo, located in Apple Valley, provides visitors with year round live exhibits of about 2,700 animals living in replications of their natural habitats. Here you will see dolphins frolicking in a 500,000 gallon pool and sharks at their glaring best in a 200,000 gallon tank. Valleywood Golf Course is a public golf course offers 18 holes of golf over more than 6400 yards from the longest tees providing an enjoyable and challenging experience for golfers at all levels.
