Many Swedish immigrants found work and places to live here in the early years of this city. So how did it get a name like Cambridge. Well it seems like some folks from New England also settled here. Work was always plentiful here with a potato starch factory, 1000+ barrel flouring mill, a wool carding and spinning mill, an electric lighting plant, local and long-distance telephone systems and a brick factory. Cambridge Municipal airport lies to the Extreme Southwest of the town where the streets are far and few between. This airport, which is operated and maintained by the city of Cambridge, with runways of approximately 4000 and 1200 feet in length can accommodate only small aircraft. |
