There are several lakes in and around Jefferson City. They are Binder Lake, McKay Park Lake and Hough Park Lake. They are all great fishing spots with large mouth bass, bluegill, channel catfish, red-ear sunfish and crappie just waiting for the anglers to throw in their lines. Best of all for trout fisherman, the Missouri Department of Conservation, Jefferson City Parks and Recreation, and Capital City Fly Fishers stock McKay Park Lake with trout creating an urban winter fishery in Jefferson City. The Washington Park Skate park has half-pipes, fun boxes, grinding rails and other components. In addition to the swimming pool in the Ellis-Porter/Riverside park area the city has another pool at the Memorial Park Family Aquatic center. Lincoln University is located in Jefferson City. This institution has a College of Agriculture and Natural Sciences, College of Arts and Letters, College of Behavioral and Technological Sciences, College of Professional Studies and the Division of Continuing Education and Extended Studies and graduate programs.
