Gallatin Circuit Court is the circuit court of Daviess County in the Forty-Third Judicial Circuit of the Missouri Circuit court system. If you have a case related to a city ordinance or traffic violation in Gallatin (SR 6 and SR 13), Village of Altamont (SR 6) or Winston (US 69) it will be heard in the Associate division of this court.

About the area

The Daviess county Squirrel Cage Jail built around 1889 is now the visitors center with items related to the trial of Frank James and his brother Jesse on display. The jail is a round "squirrel cage" divided into jail cells which spins on a single axis inside a perimeter of stationary bars. The the octogon jail exterior of the one here in Gallatin has been reconstructed and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The annual Gallatin Chautauqua Car show, held in September, has categories for antique, original and classic cars; trucks and tractors.
