About the area

The town of Big Lake essentially lies in Big Lake State Park which lies along Big lake. If you visit it bring you canoe or jet skis; the lake is perfect for those activities. Or you might to just lay back and watch the migrating birds who use the park as a stopover such as yellow-headed blackbirds, blue herons, soras and rails. All this is great, but unfortunately the park is closed until further notice due to damage from 2011 Missouri River flooding. The area however is beautiful and you can enjoy the view from the town.
