| About the area |
The George Washington Carver National monument is located a few miles West of Diamond. Although great difficulty in obtaining an education, Carver became a renowned agricultural scientist, educator, and humanitarian. The park has a log layout in the approximate area where the cabin, in which Carver was born, once stood. He was born to an enslaved girl named Mary in the cabin once owned by Moses and Susan Carver on their farm. The Moses Carver house constructed around 1881 after a tornado destroyed several dwellings, including the birthsite cabin of Carver, on the farm also sits in the park along with the George Washington Carver museum. |
