This town is as small as it gets; less than 140 people living in an area of much less then 1/10 of a square mile. However, the people here enjoy an estimated median household income better than that in Missouri. and a cost of living average better than the United States average. The gentleman for whom this town is named was an immigrant from Rosshire, Scotland who first came to Quebec around 1810s. He moved to St. Louis in the early 1820's. He became president of the Columbia Fur Company and later the Upper Missouri Outfit of the American Fur Company.
