Hollister Municipal Court

US 65, US 65 Bypass and SR 76 run through Hollister while both SR BB and SR 165 enter the city.

Around 1867, a single woman, homesteading from the land grant office established about 30 years earlier, established her claim here for approximately 120 acres. This was the beginning of a settlement which was to become Hollister about 12 years later. With the dawning of the 20th century, a general store and post office was opened and the official name was given and authorized four years later. The arrival of the St Louis Iron Mountain & Southern Railroad brought new expansion. The headquarters for the Mo-Pac Agricultural Agent of the White River Division was established in the town and berries, vegetables, grape vineyards, orchards, cotton and tobacco crops grew while the amount of these items shipped grew to large numbers. Two residents of the town laid out and started the development of an English style village which attracted visitors from all over the world and resulted in the row of quaint Elizabethan structures which is now Downing Street. You might want to enjoy the annual Hollister Grape and Fall fesitval held at the end of September. There's lots of great food, wine tasting, craft booths, a 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament and a free activity tent for the kids. Live musical entertainment is provided throughout the festival and if you've ever seen Lucille Ball do her wine stomping bit on TV, you too might want to enter your team in the Grape Stomp competition.
