All of these courts are in the First judicial district of Montana. The justice court hears cases involving traffic violations and ordinance violations occurring outside the city limits of Helena and Helena Municipal court hears the ones inside the city limits. The major roads in Lewis and Clark county are IS 15, IS 90, US 12, US 287 and SR 200. Roads running through Helena are IS 15, US 12 and SR 430.

Around 1864 gold was discovered in the area by four prospectors and the rush was on. Even after they left others poured into the region seeking their fortune. The area grew and took on the name Helena which became the capital of the Montana Territory around 1875 and eventually the state of Montana when statehood was granted. The Helena Civic center is the scene of many activities including community events, banquets, Helena symphony concerts and dance presentations. The Alive @ Five concert series is held each year on Wednesday nights from mid-May through the end of August at different downtown locations. The Grand Street theatre and The Myrna Loy Center for the Performing and Visual Arts are venues for dramatic and musical presentations and even some movies. The Last Chance Splash waterpark and pool is open each Summer for hot wether enjoyment with its lazy river, splash deck, slides and zero depth entry.
