Prairie County Court, more formally called the Prairie Court, is in the Seventh judicial district of Montana.
About the area
The Montana state legislature took portions of Custer county, Dawson county and Fallon county to form Prairie county around 1915. The Prairie County museum, located in an old bank building in Terry, reflects the past in Prairie county with its exhibits depicting a homesteader’s house, a restored Northern Pacific depot, a caboose and a steam-heated outhouse. Adjacent to the museum, the Evelyn Cameron gallery has on display a large number of the photographs of life on the prairie taken by Lady Evelyn Cameron, an Englishwoman who homesteaded in Prairie County around 1889.
