Toole County Court

Toole County Court is the Ninth district court of Toole county in the judicial district system of Montana.

Around 1885 gold was discovered in Sweetgrass Hills and shortly thereafter the land in that area was acquired from the Indians and opened to settlers. In the first decade of the 20th century a blizzard killed much of the livestock population and flooding of the Marias river destroyed many homes and property; however as the second decade opened, homesteaders started coming to the area. Toole county was created from parts of Teton and Hill counties around 1914. More than 80 years since the discovery of oil in this county; oil and gas production are still contributing to the economy. Although more recently there have been investments in wind power in this county. You will probably not be surprised to find that the top private employer in Toole County is the Crossroads Correctional Facility which is located in Shelby.
