Graham city is the county seat of Alamance County (the name derived from an Indian term for "blue clay") has approximately 13950 residents presenting a racial makeup of 6/10 White Non Hispanic, 2/10 African American, 1/10 Hispanic, and the other 1/10 corresponding to American Indian, and other racial groups. Incorporated in the 1850s, this land has very strong American and English influences coming from the first settlers in this territory of more than 8 square miles of extension elevated 600 feet above sea level and neighbor of Haw River, Burlington, Swepsonville, Green Level, and Glen Raven.
