Richmond County is the mother of the young and charming Scotland County (named for the island of Great Britain, which was created back in the late 19th century. More than 320 square miles of extension and neighboring with Hoke and Richmond Counties on its northern border; while the southern limit is constituted by Robeson and Marlboro Counties; are some of the geographic characteristics of this community on the Cape Fear River course. If you are coming to this corner of North Carolina, do not miss the chance to take a walk down Laurinburg’s Main Street to enjoy the historical track, lovely shops, and transport yourself back into the late 1880s and early 1890s atmosphere.
