| About the area |
The first recorded meeting of the Board of County Commissioners of Benson County, Dakota Territory, ton designate Minnewaukan as the county seat took place in the early Summer of 1884. The county courthouse erected in that year is still standing, has not changed in appearance and is on the National Register of Historic Places. Each year the Minnewaukan Fire department and Community club sponsors the Winter Fffishtival competition. Grand prize is a Zach Shack ice house. |
