| About the area |
Burke county traces its history as a county back to about 1910. Its not unusual to see wild turkeys and moose throughout Burke county. The best sightings of the many birds living in this county can probably be made at the annual Lostwood Birding Festival held at Lostwood National Wildlife Refuge in June. The list of birds seen each grows bigger as time goes by. If you are not lazy you can certainly find something to do at Bowbells' recreation complex where you play a pickup game on one of the basketball courts or swing a racket at the tennis courts or come here to watch softball, American Legion Baseball, T-ball, pee wees, or midgets play. You might know or be related to some of the kids in these games. |
