In Cedar County Courthouse you can find both the county court and the district court (Box 796) each of which is a part of their respective Sixth Judicial districts of Nebraska. US 81 running along its western part will take quite a way through Cedar county. Other roads in the county are US 20, SR 12, SR 15, SR 57, SR 59 and SR 84.

Although this town has only about 1,700 people in it it has a municipal airport with a state of the art lighting system. Hartington has several recreational venues. Felber park features the following amenities; a baseball and football field, municipal swimming pool, illuminated tennis, basketball and sand volleyball courts and playground equipment. Carkoski Field has a softball field , practice track and football field and a walking track. The fairly new community complex is equipped with a football stadium, concession area, running track, soccer fields, a practice football field and baseball fields. Indoor basketball is available at the Hartington City auditorium. If you can spare some time away from all the physical activity make a visit to the Cedar County Historical museum where you can see antique machinery and horse drawn buggies, Hartington's first fire engine and a restored Model T. On the grounds of the museum there is an a authentic log cabin and a carriage house.
