You might be surprised to know that you can find both the county court and the district court (Box 395) in the Dixon County courthouse and each court is part of their respective Sixth judicial district of Nebraska. US 20, SR 9, SR 12, SR 15, SR 35 and SR 116 will take you most places in Dixon county.

Ponca lies near the Missouri river and the border with South Dakota. Founded around 1856, Ponca today is home to a little over 1,000 residents. Elk Point Bend Wildlife Area at Ponca State park holds a large wetlands wildlife area with walking trails, viewing areas and backwater kayak and canoe areas. Every September this area is the site of the Missouri River Outdoor expo which attracts close to 20,000 visitors each year. The outdoor events, activities and hand-on experiences at this expo include hunting, fishing, bow and arrow shooting, camping, dutch oven cooking, boating and kayaking. Just one month later, in early October Hallowfest is celebrated in this park with pumpkin rolling, outdoor meals and Haunted Hayrack rides through the Park's dark wooded hills. Another great event held in this town is the annual Day's of 56 rodeo in June.
