We're told that Vaughn, New Mexico, has 500 residents, two schools and a few watering holes. But the town's only two police officers both have criminal records and neither is allowed to carry a gun. The police force has disbanded and the chief resigned due to criminal charges. The sheriff's department and the one remaining member of the police force, a single drug-sniffing dog named Nikka, now patrol the town known as a drug smuggling route. According to KOB.com reports that the police and the one officer have both had run-ins with the law despite being law enforcement officers. In 1928 engine failure forced Charles Lindbergh to land here and stay over until replacement parts arrived. The town still has a hotel and a diner with an interior reminiscent of the 1950's.
