Allegany County is a small, rural county in southwestern New York. Its population is about fifty thousand as of the 2000 census, and it shares its southern border with Pennsylvania. It\'s a really nice place, and its rural makeup means that the court doesn\'t see a whole lot of crime. This county should not be confused with any of four similarly-named counties in four other states. The name comes from a Delaware Indian word origionaly reffering to the river, and is subject to many spelling variations, even for different locations in the same area. |
