About the area |
The town has many parks with playgrounds, ball fields and hiking trails, including Wolf Park, a 182 acre park with trails for hiking, snowshoeing and x-country skiing. Trail maps & guides are available at the park entrance. A former 1846 Kattelville one-room schoolhouse is know the Chenango Schoolhouse Museum, office of the town historian, local history records, families, census and cemetary records, as well as many local photos. Originally part of Tioga County, Chenango was formed in 1791, and includes the hamlets of Chenango Bridge, Chenango Forks, Castle Creek, West Chenango, Nimmonsburg & Kattelville, is now the 3rd largest in Broome County, along the western shore of the Chenango River. Major thorofares include NYS Rte 12 & Interstate 81. |
