Sidney Town Court is in the same building, but covers a much larger geographic area.
About the area
Reverend William Johnston established the village of Sidney in the 1770's. For the most part, the economy at that time was based on farming, timber sales and the making of potash. Then the railroad was built, connecting Sidney to Albany, and many people were able to go there to receive a better education. Some people were able to find jobs in the Albany area and moved away from Sidney. In present day Sidney the town and village are a trhiving tourist town and a close-knit community. People like Sidney because it has the convenience of going to Albany or New York City but they have the benefits of the small town.
