Located in the Public Safety Building, this is the busiest court in the county, although that isn't saying a lot in Montgomery County. Court is actually at 1 Guy Park Avenue Ext., near the intersection with Route 30, but that may not map right on Google. |

About the area |
Amsterdam is a small city along the Mohawk River. Amsterdam was situated with good waterpower from several streams and in the 1800s the city was an industrial giant among upstate cities with numerous large carpet and knitting mills. At one time Amsterdam was known as Carpet City, one of the largest carpet-producing town in the U.S. The last carpet manufacturer closed up in 1968. The City has shrunk to half of its 1930's population. The old factories lend a certain charm to the city and it would be nice to see them adaptively reused. The great actor Kirk Douglas was born in Amsterdam, the son of a ragman. Also, the guy who invented e-mail (Ray Tomlinson) |
