No plea deals. Plead guilty or take your chances at trial - but what do you have to lose if those are the choices? The ALJ will generally not dismiss if the officer fails to appear for trial the first (or second) time. For serious tickets you should really hire a lawyer. The New York City Traffic Court system is frustrating both for lawyers and their clients, or so we are told.
About the area
There is also a Manhattan South TVB. For many, Manhattan is the center of the universe. Combine 1.5 million residents and a daily avalanche of tourists, and you can imagine how busy this traffic court must be. The building is near the 125th Street Station and the New York College of Podiatric Medicine.
Hours of Operation
Call center: 8 am to 4 pm. The Court is open from 8:30 am - 4:00 pm; until 6 pm on Thursdays.
Judges
Administrative Law Judges, rumored to have received kangaroo training, preside over speeding and traffic cases.
Prosecutors
NYPD and other police prosecute their own speeding tickets and other traffic cases, perhaps with the ALJ helping a bit.
Type Of Cases
Traffic, including speeding tickets
