About the area |
Canandaigua serves as the county seat for Ontario County. Its name originated from the Iroquois word "Kanandarque", which means "chosen spot", referring to a place people have chosen to settle. The town is located at the northwest end of one of the Finger Lakes, Canandaigua Lake. The region boasts to be the largest wine producing region in New York State. |
