About the area |
The Village of Suffern was originally called New Antrim and was deemed to be strategically important during the Revolutionary War because of its location near Ramapo Pass. Both Washington and Rochambeau made troop encampments at New Antrim. Cosmetic giant, Avon Products has a state-of-the-art Research and Development facility located in Suffern, and has had a facility there since 1897. Famous natives and residents, past & present include Valerie Harper, and brother & sister actors Tim and Tyne Daly, plus the maternal grandparents of the founders of this website. Village has a Halloween Parade in late October. |

M- Friday 8 to 4; accepts fines until 3:30 p.m. Criminal cases are heard 1st & 3rd Tuesdays at 4 pm, while speeding tickets and other cases are heard 2nd & 4th Tuesdays at 4pm. |

Rockland County DA Michael Bongiorno and his staff prosecute criminal and traffic cases. Deputy Village Attorney Robert Magrino prosecutes violators at the village Justice Court, and represents the Village as needed. |
