A very pleasant court. Duanesburg town court staff, judges, and the Assistant DAs are all great to work with. Assistant Town Attorney Ed Fassett is one of the nicest guys on the planet, but you probably won't see him here. The Court can get very crowded due to the small size of the facility and the volume of cases. Dwyer and the Troopers all crowd into the judge's chambers and this makes for interesting plea bargaining. Attorneys should let the clerk know when they have their deal so she'll get their case called up. Otherwise you might wait a while.
About the area
Duanesburg is a suburb of Schenectady and Albany, and has a generally rural character. Route 7, Route 20, and I-88 run in or close to the "downtown" area (if you can call it that). The speed limit on Route 20 drops to 30 or 35 and the sign is not always obvious, so that generates a lot of speeding tickets.
Hours of Operation
Judge Butler has sessions on Mondays at 7:00 pm; Judge LaBelle on Wednesdays at 7 pm.
Judges
Hon. Robert B. Butler, Sr., and Hon. Rita L. LaBelle
Prosecutors
Defense lawyers can resolve most traffic matters with the Assistant District Attorney from Schenectady County (per comment, John Healy; Phone: 388-4364 (fax: 388-4569)) by mail and sometimes fax. Used to be Gerald Dwyer, a gentleman, but he moved up. We hear good things about Healy.
Type Of Cases
Speeding tickets from I-88 and Route 20, along with the other routine town court stuff
