About the area |
Southold is located on the north east tip of the northern peninsula of LI referred to as "the north fork". It is about 78 miles ENE of NYC. Southold includes the village of Greenport, the hamlets of Cutchogue, East Marion, Fishers Island, Laurel, Mattituck, New Sufolk, Orient, Peconic and Southold. The well known restricted governmental research facility, Plum Island is also part of the town of Southold, but is under the control of the Dept of Homeland Security. |
