About the area |
Located on Cayuga Lake & traditional home of the Tutelo tribe (eastern branch of the Sioux). Built in 1915 as a car dealership, in 1928 the building was transformed into a vaudeville theater, & is currently listed on the National Register of Historic Places, along with the Cascadilla School Boathouse, part of Stewart Park, the land of which has been used as an athletic field, a trolley line leading to an amusement park, zoo & merry-go-round, became a dance pavillion & vaudeville theatre, a film studio in the days of "flickers", and finally a park with a bird sanctuary, golf course & carousel. |
