About the area

Lawrence County attracted a lot of settlers in the past because it was rich with iron and ore resources. Iron Timber, natural gas and oil were all in plenty before the 19th century. But now the accent is more on the modern business and residential settlements in the county. The Canal which connects the Lake Erie and Ohio River passes through Lawrence County. Lawrence township is the heart of the canal corridor.
