About the area

An American Revolutionary War officer gave name to this Celina metro area population, General Hugh Mercer died on the "glorious year" of the U.S. Independence back in 1777 because of his multiple injuries during the Battle of Princeton fought in New Jersey. With more than 470 square miles of territory, this county shares frontiers with Jay and Adams, counties of Indiana State. The unincorporated town of Maria Stein is known as the "land of cross-tipped churches", when coming to this community missing the churches of St. Rose, St. Sebastian, and Osgood would be a real "sin".
