South of Columbus and not too far from Dayton, Pickaway County is famous for kayaking on the banks of Scioto River. This area was inhabited by the Shawnee Indians before the civil war. The Ohio Erie Canal passes through Circleville. There are many museums some historical of nature and some are for the green cause. There is plenty to do when it comes to outdoor fun and activities in Pickaway County. The county is also an active participant in the ecological programs.
