About the area

Named after Johnathan Titus, surveyor for the Holland Land Company. This community started its golden period back in the late 1850s when this city was known as "the birthplace of the oil industry" and witnessed the successful extraction of oil, and participated actively in the construction of local railroads; along with other key infrastructure to facilitate the oil drilling process. Today, this municipality is home of 5900 inhabitants who enjoy the local attractions and recreational areas such as, Drake Well Museum and Oil Creek State Park.
