The industrial city of Erie is actually the county seat of Erie County, incorporated back in the early 19th century from a fragment of the Allegheny County territories, after a dispute between Pennsylvania and New York State about this blessed territory. Today, Erie is the home of more than 280000 residents and it has a bit less than 1600 square miles of extension with a population density of 350 people per square mile. Warren and Crawford Counties in Pennsylvania, Ashtabula County in Ohio, and Chautauqua County in New York constitute the borders of Erie's land.
